What is it
An implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Once it has fused with the bone, it supports a crown, bridge or denture that looks and functions like a natural tooth.
Who is it for
Adults with one or several missing teeth, healthy gums and enough bone. If bone volume is limited, a bone graft may be recommended first.
What to expect
An examination with X-rays or a 3D scan, placement of the implant under local anaesthesia, a healing period of a few months while it integrates with the bone, then the final crown. Implant placement is one of the focus areas of our oral surgeon, Dr. Abdullah Yağız.
Aftercare
Gentle daily cleaning, regular check-ups and avoiding smoking help the implant last.
